The meeting was held at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre. Members and their families were invited to attend the meeting and use the facilities courtesy of the Area Council.
The Area Council invited candidates from three ridings-Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Pitt Meadows/Maple Ridge/Mission- to attend our meeting. We asked that if they could not attend if they would answer a series of questions that were of particular importance to our members that would be shared with those in attendance. Of the nine candidates invited, only one attended and he provided written answers to the questions. No other candidate answered the questions.
Jeffrey Hansen-Carlson provided a short presentation to the group and extended an invitation to an NDP candidate fundraiser for Monday January 21, 2006.
There was a round table discussion about the role and function of the Area Council to introduce the new members who were attending their first Area Council meeting. Then we held a general discussion about the upcoming PSAC education opportunities.
Action: Jeffrey Hansen-Carlson’s answers to the questions were forwarded to the members who attended the meeting as requested.
