1. Review of the Regional Women’s Committee Handbook: We walked through the handbook and all participants were given a copy.
2. Summer School for Union Women: Angela announced the summer school for union Women and handed out the information about how to apply and the courses offered.
3. Pre-convention Seminar for Women Delegates: The pre-convention seminar for Women Delegates is on March 31 at the Holiday Inn on Broadway.
4. PSAC Convention Observer Funding
M/S Sanda/Alethea carried
To give Angela $500.00 to assist with the costs of going to the PSAC Convention as an observer from the Vancouver Regional Women’s Committee.
5. Mail: Reviewed the mail received that hadn’t already been dealt with by the committee.
Vancouver Status of Women is asking for support to print their single Mother’s Handbook. Angela took the letter and will deal with it.
Grievance Handling course poster was handed out
Area Council poster was handed out
Parveen will forward the email on the Code Blue campaign.
Angela took the correspondence on the play about women in non-traditional technical jobs to see if we could host this one night as an educational forum sponsored by this committee.
Regina reported on the progress of Women at Work Part II
Angela announced the Peace March on March 18th.
6. Fall planning
Next meeting dates:
June 15. We will try to connect with the Human Rights Committee or the Multi Union Pride Committee to see what we can do to help them prepare for the parade. We will have a report from Angela on her participation at the PSAC Convention. Committee members will come prepared to report specifically on how they can help push for elder rights.
September 13. We may try to have a speaker from the Filipino Women’s Center at this meeting. We also need to plan for the October meeting.
October 25. Halloween theme again? Prepare for December 6th activities.
Campaigns we might be interested in taking action on are working for elder rights and working on the issue of violence.
Angela will ask Patrick to add a link to the website highlighting that the PSAC Family Care Policy includes elder care.
Angela and Parveen agreed to write a report on the March 8th dinner that we attended as a group.
