Educational portion: A song and a video on the Salem Witch Hunts - We started the educational portion off with Alethea giving a wonderful overview of a course she took some time ago on the Salem Witch Hunts. She connected those times with the ongoing struggles for human rights. Then we had a song by our special guest, Barbara Jackson, who is a CUPE member, and Regina Brennan. This was a song about the witch hunts as a tool for oppression of women, and connecting it to the tools used to oppress other groups, each in their time. This was followed by the video, The Burning Times.
Co chairs election: The election of Alethea and Angela as the co-chairs of the Vancouver Regional Women’s Committee was finalized. Congratulations and thanks to Angela and Alethea.
Finances: Deanna will open a bank account with $20.00 from our petty cash. Regina, Angela and Alethea will all become signing officers.
