Component Reports:

CEUDA 20042 - Sean reports that his members have been asked to participate in a Value and Ethics Program by CDSA for Prevention, Support & Investigative Approach, of members investigating other members. This is not being accepted very well as it could cause dissention amongst members and co-workers. Membership of 6 in April has grown to 10 in May and should reach approximately 45 by late 2007.

UCTE - Barry reports that there is a stable workforce at the base with 3 casual employees added. And there has been a request for staff use a MIM’s report for tracking equipment and time spent. Barry feels this could be a method of tracking employee time spent performing duties.

USGE - Be reports that the M.O.U. has been incorporated with management and has gone well to date. First round of selection process following PSMA guidelines, went well in Prince Rupert. Be will be involved in another one for Smithers.

CEIU - Penny reports that there is still on going cut backs in resources and more responsibilities being added to the remaining few staff. As staff retire, quit or move, the positions are not being filled. They are slowly being taken over by Prince George. Prince Rupert office has only 4 staff left. Effective April 1, 2006 the remaining staff have been further tasked with receiving fees paid for boat licensing, providing assistance for SIN rapid access, Passports and CPP on line service. The E.I. call center is not working well or at all in most instances so people requiring assistance are referred back to the local offices.

Committee Reports: Be handed out the union Education Surveys again for collection of more information from members regarding courses and education the members would like to have put forth for this area.Barry says that members at his base would like to have the courses - Facing Management, Understanding the Collective Agreement and Grievance Handling. Jack says he could put them on and the dates of September 23 - 24, 2006 were set for this training.

Seafest celebrations: June 9-11, 2006. No one is available to participate this year.
