Present: Gary Fraser (PSAC Area Rep), Earla MacLean (UTE Local 20029), Hilde Sellmeyer (UTE Local 20007), Sigrid Hagglund (UTE Local 20029), Sharon Palis (UTE Local 20029), Johann Ackermann (UTE Local 20029), Kim Forster (UTE Local 20029), Carol Pegura(UTE Local 20029) , Terry Ruyter (UTE Local 20007), Kay Sinclair (UTE Local 20029 and alternate REVP).

It was noted that Carol Pegura is now the Fraser Valley West BC PSAC Council Rep.
- Agenda – Earla/Carol, moved/seconded – carried.
- Previous minutes – Earla/Hilde, moved/seconded – carried. It was also requested that the Local and Component be noted on all minutes.
- Kay spoke on item 3 from the previous minutes. The SDLAC letter to members concerning candidates for political office. Kay tried to talk to all who called with concerns on the Area Council letter. She mentioned that she spoke with Patti Ducharme about putting information on the BC PSAC site on endorsement letters with an explanation of how and why this was done.
- Request for funding to attend the PSAC convention. Carol Pegura made a request on behalf of the Human Rights Committee to send an observer to the PSAC Convention in Toronto. It was noted that after the request was made, Carol was chosen as the observer attending on behalf of the committee. ($1,000.00 was in line item for the PSAC Convention.) Sigrid was attending as the Area Council Delegate and had to also pay a registration fee of $150.00. It was suggested that the AC pay some of Carol Pegura’s and Parveen Depak’s expenses to the Convention. Earla/ Hilde, moved/seconded that SDLAC pay $150. for Sigrid’s registration fee and fgive $400. to the Human Rights Committee for Carol and $450. to Parveen Deepak for the sole purpose of attending the convention. Carol thanked the Area Council.
- Kay mentioned that she had attended the convention committee meeting and Patti, Heather had also attended. Patti presented a brief overview of the main issues for convention such as the proposed dues increase, a strike levy and staffing increases. Patti also mentioned that these require a 2/3 majority to pass. About 135 resolutions were discussed. Luckily there were some really big chunks of resolutions that were being lumped together. Funding of Regional Conventions was one of them. The top 5 general resolutions were about: 1) Privatizing of Public Services; 2) PSAC structural review; 3) Aboriginal conferences; 4) Commitment to organizing; 5) Changing the name of the PSAC. Heather spoke on the collective bargaining committee NBOD decisions on how the resolutions would be presented. The needs for some clarity around Reg 15 and the involvement of the President.
- Call centre issues were brought up along with several others.
- Heather made a presentation to the AC on her candidacy for the position of President.
- Kay thanked Patti and Heather for coming.
- Sharon/Hilde, moved/seconded to reimburse $200.00 for the expenses of the previous meeting. Carried.
- Kay mentioned that several members from other locals/components had informed her that they could not attend.
- Gary mentioned that several courses that were being held.
- Carol/Hilde, moved/seconded to adjourn. Carried.
