Make Poverty History: When will Canada act on AIDS?
Published by Patrick November 22nd, 2006 in Make Poverty History Tags: action, Make Poverty History, statement. It has been three months since the XVI International AIDS Conference in Toronto and the Government of Canada has yet to announce its plans to combat the pandemic.
On August 18th, the day the conference closed, Health Minister Tony Clement promised the Government would act. He said: “Is there more to do? Yes there is and we’ll be announcing that in the near future.â€
Since that day, Make Poverty History has delivered thousands of e-mail messages and post cards to Mr. Harper calling on Canada to take decisive action.
More importantly, since that day close to 750,000 people have died of AIDS-related causes and over a million women, men and children have become infected with HIV/AIDS.
Yet the Canadian government remains silent.

Visit makepovertyhistory.ca and send a message to to Health Minister Tony Clement asking him to take action on AIDS without further delay.
