The meeting was called to order at 1:00 p.m. with Susan Yaciw in the chair.

Minutes: Minutes from September 30, 2006 were accepted. m/s/c

Treasurer’s Report: The report was presented (see attached). m/s/c

Action: Audited report to be sent to Kay Sinclair, REVP.

2007 Budget: The budget was presented (see attached). m/s/c

Update from Regional Council Okanagan / Kootenay: Susan Yaciw attended the last council meeting October 27-29, 2006. See attached reports: Report from Okangan / Kootenay Region to Regional Council and Report of Activities at Regional Council meeting.

Education: There has been a request from CFIA (Oliver) for basic courses such as TUB, Grievance Handling, and Facing Management. Several locals expressed interest in Duty to Accommodate, Advanced Stewards Training, and having another Women at Work Course (Part III?). The Advanced Stewards Training is being held in Vancouver in June (see http://www.psacbc.com/education/ for further information and to apply.

Action: S. Yaciw to forward training request to Regina Brennan.

MP Lobbying: S Yaciw reported that she had met with Ron Cannan, MP for Kelowna – Lake Country and R. Eisworth reported that the President of UTE Local 20026 had met with Stockwell Day, MP for Okanagan – Coquihalla. Discussions centred on the closing of client service counters at Canada Revenue Agency.

Bargaining: The Western Regional Bargaining Conference was held December 2-3, 2006. K. Stanich attended as the Women’s Committee Table 3 delegate for BC, and D-L McKenzie attended as an Agriculture Component delegate for Table 3. D-L. McKenzie was elected to attend the National Bargaining Conference

Political Action:

Women’s Equality: Visit http://www.psac.com/issues/womenequality/20061206e-e.shtml to see what you can do for a renewed Status of Women Canada.

Oppose privatization of Health Care: Visit the BC Health Coalition site at http://www.bchealthcoalition.ca/

Dress for Success: R. Eisworth reported that UTE Local 20026 is working to revitalize this campaign which supplies clothing to women returning to the workforce. The Local will have a clothing drive and hopes to have the clothes made available by WINGS boutique in Penticton which is run by South Okanagan Women in Need Society. Others around the table expressed interest in participating.

Action: R. Eisworth to forward information to K. Stanich for distribution to Area Council and Women’s Committee members.

Donations to Support Transition Houses: The need to support local transition houses was discussed and it was decided to donate $100 to: South Okanagan Women in Need Society, Central Okanagan Emergency Shelter Society (Kelowna) and Vernon Women’s Transition House Society.
